Project description: Residential, planted with all 4” pots of Florida native wildflowers and grasses. Planted in July during a week when we were having our typical afternoon summer showers.
This meadow occupies space that was a former row of orange trees, long since removed, though the irrigation infrastructure remained intact, helpful during establishment — a practical reason the client chose this site for phase two of the roadside meadow project.
Planted entirely with Florida native species, the meadow sits just north of the Lake Wales Ridge, on the sandy, fast-draining soils typical of the region's rolling sandhills. Species were selected for drought tolerance, so once established, the meadow will rely on rainfall alone.
