Coreopsis leavenworthii - Leavenworth’s tickseed
Coreopsis leavenworthii - Leavenworth’s tickseed
Life Cycle: Annual, self-seeding
Soil Moisture: Moist to medium, well drained sandy soil
Sun Exposure: Full sun
Height: 2-3’ when blooming
Bloom Color: Yellow with dark centers
Bloom Time: Spring through fall
Fauna: Nectar plant for butterflies and pollinators
Planting Considerations: Leavenworth’s coreopsis will reseed in moist soil, if not to heavily mulched. Consider using it as a mulch, weaving it through a medium to moist wildflower planting where it can fill in spaces between other longer lived wildflowers and grasses.
Field Notes: Nearly endemic to Florida, Leavenworth’s tickseed is common in moist roadside ditches and meadows, pond and lakesides.
