Fauna: Bush clovers are an important resource for wildlife, and a great nectar source for native bees and other pollinators. The foliage is food for herbivores and its seeds are a food source for ground nesting birds. Hairy lespedeza is the larval host plant for the Zarucco duskywing (Erynnis zarucco) butterfly.
Planting considerations: Hairy lespedeza is a legume, which serve to enrich soils by fixing nitrogen. Seed heads are very attractive.
