Planting Considerations: Consider planting with Eastern silver aster (Symphyotrichum concolor), Coastal plain palafox (Palafoxia integrifolia), Black seeded needle grass (Piptochaetium avenaceum), and Scrub blazing star (Liatris tenuifolia). Cannot tolerate too much moisture at the roots.
Field Notes: Mostly deciduous during winter. Leaves are woolly on the underside. Some leaves may turn reddish. Leaves along the stem may wither and die in late summer.
